PART 50

I am sorry for never saying it. She started her voice muffled in his chest, she wasn’t even sure he was listening or not. But I have felt it for a long time. I was afraid of saying it out loud, fearing if I said it, it would turn too real. The hidden powers of the universe would know n take you away. Like they destroyed everyone and everything that I loved. Although if it means so much to you and I know it does, I am not going to hold back. I love you, Maan.

Say that again. He reared back not believing his ears. All this time he had been waiting for this moment n now it had come.

I love you. You and only you. I have never loved any man before you n I will never any other man again. I promise you that on my life.

Her past and her confession brought tears to his eyes and they rolled down his face. She caught one drop in her palm, wishing upon it to always keep him happy; after all, the tear was as rare as a shooting star.

Maan thought about how he had accused her of having an affair when in his heart he knew she couldn’t do that to him, he’d just wanted to hurt her. To make her feel some of the pain that she gave him. He was such a fool. How could he even think about hurting this angle, who in such a short span of her life had endured several centuries of pain.

I promise you the same. He kissed all over face n she laughed through the tears.

I love you, my love. He said n she closed her eyes allowing the words to wash over her. Those words somehow had become more precious now that she had told him every bit of her ugly past.

Maan signed the deal n then they attended the evening party afterwards briefly. Geet wanted to go home as soon as possible, she didn’t want to miss the few days she had with Manan. Considering that Maan had arranged for them to leave the same night.

Geet could easily tell Maan was excited that this deal with the Japanese company had worked out. During most their time in the private jet he kept explaining her how the Japanese company now would exclusively make construction machines only for KC. The extremely modern and efficient machinery was one of its kinds. Nobody in India or even world had that kind of technology in their hands. Of course it had cost KC a damn big fortune but in long term they were going earn insane amount of profits from this exclusive association.

After the initial interest Geet began to get bored yet she pretended to listen to her workaholic husband since he was so thrilled.

When they finally reached home the next morning, Manan wasn’t there as he was at Nikita’s place. It’s early to drop at Niki’s place. We should get some rest and then we’ll go there n get Manan.

Geet nodded. We will rest only. Don’t bore me with more business talks.

He narrowed his eyes. Now my talks are boring?

Yes, they are. She smirked jokingly, showing him her tongue.

He couldn’t hold back his smile. Then you should be with me always to make my life interesting.

A good suggestion I must say. She threw back going into the bathroom. Maan followed her inside.

I am serious, love. I was thinking if you would like to take over as the head of design department in KC. He hoisted her up on the counter and moved between her legs. You are exceptionally talented n your ideas are fresh, innovative. The clients loved your work. So what’s say, Mrs. Khurana, we rock the world together?

I don’t want to work, Maan. I am tired of working. Now I just want to be at the house, make this our home. I know I suck at it all but I will learn…. be a good wife n mother. I want to be what other people call boring housewife. Maybe once this session ends we could bring Manan to live with us, permanently. From below her thick, dark lashes she looked at him, trying to gauge what he thought about whatever she said.

He pecked her lips. Whatever you want, we’ll work out.

Wrapping hands around his neck, she said. Thanks, you are the best.

Manan was too happy to see his parents back. He bombarded them with questions about the foreign country and random things. Every time, Manan addressed Geet as mother, Maan swelled with joy. He got a sense like his family was complete.

Maan wasn’t much of a talker but he liked sitting back and watching Geet and Manu as they chatted and also bickered over various topics. Manan’s inhibitions towards Geet had evaporated totally and he was in love with her now. She had that easy and casual air about herself. Men specifically-kid or adult-couldn’t ignore her charm.

A week and half later it was time for their baby to go back to Mumbai. He had to leave for Maan’s place there to spend the rest of his vacations with his grandmother. While it was a known fact that Maan’s step mother was amazing, Geet was apprehensive about Dadimaa. Maan assured her that his mother was going to take care of him in addition to keeping him away from Dadimaa.

Unwilling, she consented when she had no heart to let go of her little one.

Manan was to be taken back to Mumbai by a trusted employee of Maan. You’re sure he’ll reach their fine? Shouldn’t we go with him? Geet fretted as they walked into the airport. They including- Nikita, Geet, Maan and Manu with security and the one who was going to go with Manu.

Geet, Manu n Dheraj are quite familiar with each other. Dheraj always brings and take Manu back. So there is nothing to worry here.

Geet wanted to differ. If she didn’t keep her mind busy with worry she was going to cry. Gosh, a kid was going to make her cry now. She was surely losing it. But, it wasn’t some ordinary kid, was it? It was her kid. Credits to Maan they were allowed at the airport all the way to runway. Once everyone had said their goodbyes to Manu, Geet sat on her knees and smoothed his hairs. I am going to miss you so damn much.

She said her heart breaking. Too me, mums. Manan threw his arms around her neck. She held back tears because if she cried her baby would catch the vibe and cry with her, and then how would she be able to let go?

Take care of yourself, okay? Love you. She pecked his lips. Dheraj took Manan’s hand n they walked ahead, away. Geet watched until Manan had climbed the stairway n waved when he turned back before entering the plane. Eventually, when Geet turned around with teary eyes, she saw Nikita’s head resting on Maan’s shoulder. She was looking at her with an expression of awe. Maan was smiling, his face soft and calm.

Motherhood suits you, babes. Nikita said coming forward and engulfing Geet in a hug. Manan’s birthday is next month. We’ll all go to Mumbai and give him a kickass party.

I think that a perfect idea. Her eyes sought Maan and he gave nod of agreement.

Let’s go, you two. Maan held the ladies’ hands and pulled them along while the plane took off behind.
